U.S. lumber industry pushes for tougher duties on Canadian softwood

The U.S. timber industry is advocating the Trump government to expand punitive duties on Canadian softwood imports forever.

Countervailing duties on imports of lumber into the United States will end after four months on Sunday and took effect. The U.S. Department of Commerce also enforced preliminary anti-dumping obligations averaging nearly 7 percent, which took effect June 30 and will last six months.
